Turn your institution into a learning community. Learners can connect, collaborate and share ideas from any source, anytime, anywhere and from any device. Watch the intro
"Yellowdig has helped to both elevate the volume in terms of engagement and its also allowed for all the students in the class to participate in a way that felt comfortable to them because of the integration of the platform within our campus learning management system (Canvas)."
"With Yellowdig I have a situation where anytime there’s anything that happens in the real world that relates to the course, like Facebook acquiring Oculus, a student pins an article on the topic and it is automatically shared with all the other students. So it really minimizes my work in sharing that information with others. All the dissemination of information outside the classroom happened through Yellowdig."

In this day and age, as more and more information is digitized, textbooks are no longer the only source for learning. Yellowdig seeks to engage students using a broad array of resources including videos, news articles, blogs and more. This platform allows students to quickly and easily turn their classroom into a collaborative learning community. With Yellowdig, learning is not limited to classroom hours. Students can learn from each other, anytime, anywhere and from any device.
We follow the typical social media norms and etiquette that today’s tech-savvy millennial students can identify with.
We remove the chaos of popular public social media, providing secure course-based and university-based private networks. This ensures focused, moderated collaboration and communication.
Every student needs an incentive. This means that course participation and engagement are reflected by our analytics capabilities and a customizable point system to push students to be their most academic selves.
Professors can take advantage of Yellowdig analytics to nudge students that are falling short of meeting basic participation and engagement scores within the course. This is also a great way to communicate with the more introverted students.
Yellowdig point system scores can be automatically synced as a participation percentage to the professor’s grade book on Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, D2L or Sakai.
Professor Dan Gruber at Northwestern University created a network visualization of class interactions with access to Yellowdig course data from APIs.
Yellowdig can seamlessly integrate into most Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Authentication System to provide easy access without separate sign-ups. With our “out-of-the-box” integration you can get started in minutes.
A key feature of Yellowdig is its integration with most learning management systems including Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle, Sakai, Desire2Learn. This makes the platform easy to adopt university-wide. We have a simple LTI integration set up with the LMS.
Yellowdig can be integrated with SSO systems for secure sign-in. Direct sign-on link shared via email offers significant ease of access to Yellowdig users.
User experience is our top priority. Use the "Contact" form to reach a friendly member of our staff quickly.
Yellowdig solves the problem of proliferation of tools across the university as it can be used for collaboration across the institution.
Introduce social collaboration in large online courses, small on-campus courses, large lectures, freshmen lectures, graduate level courses.
Engage students on broader level topics relevant for a cohort, program or department, such as incoming class, onboarding, research programs, internships and jobs.
Establish research boards to collaborate with faculty, student and industry partners on one space, so that everyone is on the same page and can remain connected on important progress.
Invite alumni members to course specific, program specific or community specific (e.g. mentorship) boards to remain in touch with the university community.
Set up group project boards, such as strategic planning, instructional design, interest & professional groups to collaborate in a private and secure way.
Yellowdig takes all reasonable measures to protect user data, including conformance to software security best practices, including use of encryption, firewalls, and limited access to production data.
Yellowdig employs FERPA compliance though LMS integration and accessing non-sensitive directory information, such as the name and email address of users.
Yellowdig is hosted using Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS data centers conform to the highest standards of physical security and processes, and have achieved ISO 27001, ISO 9001, SOC 3 and others.
While "master keys" are stored outside of the application and used at runtime, they are themselves encrypted, requiring only authorized personnel to be able to access and manage the application.
